How Do I Confirm For A Party?
You need to first be a Merava Socials member. We will email you an invitation as a party draws near. The invitation will tell you the final step to complete your confirmation.
What Should I Wear?
Remember neatness above anything else. Nothing else worse than seeing someone in this type of environment slovenly attired. We usually tell people to think of your manner of dress being the same as if you were going out to a nightclub. If you wish to later change into something more comfortable this is acceptable also. Ofcourse, themes may alter the standard manner of dress for an event.
How Many Couples Come to the Parties?
Our target number of couples is 50... with general a single female or two attending as well. Of course that may vary either way from party to party. We feel this is a great number in that the couples there get to know one another fairly well and one is not overwhelmed about such a large group. Great for intimacy and variety. But Merava mega-parties such as Halloween & New Year's Eve will garner a much larger crowd.
Can I Smoke?
We have 'designated' outside smoking areas.
Can I bring an alcoholic beverage?
If you book an overnight room then you can b.y.o.b. and drink outside of the bar. Otherwise, all alcoholic beverages need to be purchased from the bar.
What type of people come to these parties?
Simply put, all kinds. Our couples are normal everyday people with our members ranging from teachers, medical professionals, artists, homemakers, law enforcement, business owners, professionals of all types, retail, consultants, musicians, firefighters, dancers, government, etc.
Are many women that attend bi?
Our estimates would place about 85% of the women who make up our membership as being bi or bi-curious. We have also developed the Merava Socials Star System to address this issue. What this is, the ladies place a red star on their name tag to indicate that they are straight, or a green star to indicate that they are bi or bi-curious. This helps woman to determine if another woman may be approachable or not. From time to time we also host special themed parties for couples with a bi/bi-curious female.
Am I expected to 'participate'?
The only expectation we have for you at Merava Socials is to have a great time. Its a completely no pressure environment. Choosing to 'participate' can range from socializing with other couples, dancing, participating in our party games, beings exhibitionists or voyeurs. You decide your own comfort level.
We're only 'curious' about the lifestlyle, are we still welcomed?
We think that a Merava Socials party is the best way to be introduced into the lifestyle. Its a completely no pressure atmosphere. It gives you a chance to chat and meet other couples in the lifestyle in a comfortable setting. The problem with meetings couples individually is that many couples feel pressured into doing 'something' and if there is no compatibility it makes for a very uncomfortable atmosphere. The best thing about attending a party is just being able to meet so many different people into the lifestyle. About 20-35% of the couples that attend are new to the lifestyle.
What is a party 'really' like?
Whatever your preconceived notion is about a couples party it is probably wrong. People are always amazed with how 'normal', 'civilized' and fun parties are. If you want a more reflective picture of what a party is like... picture a great house party, with some of your best friends, with a healthy does of sexiness & naughtiness thrown in for good measure.
'We have been to other parties and have not found an attractive crowd.'
Honestly, if you want to get an ideal of what couples look like in the lifestyle, just go to the grocery store and look around you. That's the reality of the situation. At Merava Socials we do not strive for quanity, but quality. We do our best to gain a select membership of desirable couples. And that is why we feel that the couples that have attended our parties are a great bunch of attractive, sexy and personable people that are hard to match elsewhere in New England.
Is there a cost?
We ask a $40 donation per couple to help cover the party expenses, both seen and unseen. Donations are used to maintain, improve and provide more ammenities for future events. Remember Merava Socials is a non-profit entity operating solely through the donations of its members.
Tolerance
To create a comfortable atmosphere for all, it should go without saying that tolerance is a key factor. We do not allow any hatred of any kind towards anyone due to age, religion, ethnicity or sexual orientation.
Can we bring a friend or friends?
Couples are allowed to bring along a single friend or another couple. Please contact us first before bringing a guest unexpectantly.
Can we bring our own toys?
Absolutely!
What time does the party start & end?
8:00 pm is when we will begin to receive guests. We would like to have everyone arrive by 10:00 pm. The end time is 1:30 am. Ofcourse often the party runs longer than that. And if you have booked an overnight room the party can go on as long as you'd like it too! If you have booked an overnight room you can check-in anytime after 3:00 pm. Often guests will host pre-parties at the site of the party and guest will often form a late, late party often as well.
What type of games do you have?
Our adult party games begin at 10:00 pm. The games will vary from party to party but they are a mixture of ice-breakers and games of competition. Sign-up sheets are available at the party for some games while others we will just ask for volunteers right before. Games are a great way to get couples to start interacting with one another and is always a fantastic way for our new couples to break the ice. Game particpating is strictly voluntary. Those who dont play are more than welcome to watch.
What are the ages of the couples that attend?
Merava Socials has a great mixture of couples that range in age from early 20's to late 40's. But that being said, we have many wonderful members in their 50's who are some of the sexiest and terrific of all members. We are not so much about age (so long as you are 21), as we are about attitude. If you are older, and fill you can run with our crowd, then by all means do so!
How long have you been around?
We have been hosting events since April of 2003.
I filled out the membership application but have not heard anything back from Merava Socials.
The most frequent reason for us not getting back to you is due to an incorrect email address submitted with your application. Please be especially careful to check if you have typed your correct email address before you hit submit. Remember, we have no way of contacting you if this is inaccurate. Every application that is approved will receive a confirmation that you are now members of Merava Socials. Incomplete applications, as well as other issues, may force us to decline a membership. Please contact us through our email adddress if you have any questions regarding your submission.
Just how do you pronounce 'Merava' and where did that name come from?
Merava is pronounced 'Muh - ra- va'. The word is a shortend version of the name of the African goddess of sexual desire, 'Luamerava'.
What Happens If I Run Into Someone That I Know?
Remember, people are all there for the same reason. So if by chance, you run into someone you know, it could actually be a good thing. You may form a friendship with this person or if they are already a friend, an even stronger bond. Some people have met into co-workers, old friends, classmates, etc and almost always the experience is positive!
What Type of Themes Do You Have?
At Merava we have a staple of regular themes but are always trying to come up with new and sexier theme ideas. Some original Merava themes have been copied by other groups, but we are the originators and the best! Events we have done in the past include (but are not limited to)...
- Merava Tropics (Islander inspired prints and clothing)
- Bi-Female Night (all the women in attendence are either bi or bi-curious)
- Seduction & Sensuality (All types of sexy clothing welcomed, short skirts, cleavage, leather, lace, sheer, school girl, toga, lingerie etc... plus an aphrodesic menu!)
- Short Skirts
- Hollywood Nights - Come dressed as your favorite celebrity or a character from stage or screen. At this party we also hold our annual 'Merava Awards' Presentation as well.
- Power to the People - Our members nominate and vote on the theme of their choice.
- 2 Articles of Clothing (Clothing is limited two only two items... not including shoes), Power to the People (this is where Merava members nominate and vote on the theme),
- Merava U (our back to school event)
- Pajama/Lingerie party.
- Mardi Gras.
- Walk on the Wild Side - Comes in animal prints or famous jungle legends such as Tarzan, Jane, Steve Irwin & Indiana Jones!
These are just a few of the events we have hosted in the past and are regular events at Merava. Also, many of our party games are theme exclusive such as Bi-Female Survivor which only happens during Bi-Female Night and our Wet Lap Dance contest which only happens during our Seduction & Sensuality theme party.
Is There Really A Difference Between Swinger's Groups?
Just as there is a difference between Ice Cream and horse manure there is a difference between lifestyle events. Some are crap and others are very sweet! We feel that Merava is truly a unique community. One that is engaging, warm, friendly, classy and very sexy. So if you have soured on other groups, make sure to give Merava a try. We think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
We Are New and Not Sure if We Are Ready for a Party!
We hear that a lot from new couples. Often couples will have a pre-conceived notion of what your experience will be like. I can tell you that Merava parties are a great way to start into the lifestyle. Whatever you think you're experience will be, generally it will be inaccurate. Merava puts a great deal of emphasis on couple interaction and just' fun' in generally. People often tell us that they had no idea just how much FUN that they would have at our events. And when I say fun, I'm talking about with your clothes on. Also, why beat around the bush with emailing couples online? That is a long drawn out process. And when (and if) you finally go out on a date with a couple, what happens if you are not compatible? That can create for a very awkward and uncomfortable situation. At Merava, you will have the opportunity to meet many terrific couples (that are active in the lifestyle) in person. Think of a it as a live swingers personals! If you don't hit it off with one couple, the next couple is right there. With so many great couples in attendence, surely you will be able to make a wonderful connection in the lifestyle.
Why Do We Need To Pre-Pay?
Merava events generally sell out withn a few days of the emails invitations going out. So instead of having to turn couples away at the door or having a couple confirm and then no show (in turn screwing someone that was on the waiting list to get in) , pre-pay helps to over come these two issues.
Can Swinging Save Our Marriage?
No. If your relationship is in trouble then swinging is definately not the solution to your problems. In fact, it would probably make it worse. Swinging is a lifestyle where you need to have complete trust in your partner. Strong relationships seem to get even stronger while in the lifetyle but those that are shaky tend to get worse.
Advice #1 - Body Language
If you are interested in finding out if someone is interested, take a quick course in Body Language 101. I have found that looking for little clues such a nuiances in someone's mannerisms, speech and body language are a great tool in trying to decide if somone (or someones) are interested. There are plenty of sites online to educate one's self on body language.
Advice #2 - Dancing
If you are new to the swing scene, switching partners while dancing is a great way to see if the lifestyle is for you. Most people would not object if you ask to switch partners on the dance floor. See if watching your partner dance with someone else is something that arouses you or is something that makes you feel uneasy. If it's the latter, then this lifestyle may not be for you. If it's the former... welcome to the club!
Dancing can pratically be like having sex while clothed and standing up. It's great foreplay to dance with someone that you might be interested in taking that next step with.
So never shy away from the dance floor! Some of our best experiences have started/happend while wearing our boogie shoes.
Advice #3 - Set Boundries
Where swinging usually goes wrong with Newbies is when someone crosses an imaginary line that their partner had in their head. Always discuss what your boundries will be before going into a lifestyles event. Let your parnter know what you will and will not feel comfortable with. Communication is always important in any relationship and the swinging lifestyle is no different.
We Want to Go Out On A Date with Other Merava Members
If you are looking to network with other couples in the lifestyle, then join our Merava Yahoo Group (there is a link on the homepage of this site). Go there and post exactly what you are looking. Give an indication of your age, location and what you're into and what you are looking for. Ask couples & single females to contact you directly at an email address provided.
Intellectual Pursuits
The Merava Yahoo Group (which you can link to from this site's homepage) offer you a chance to voice your opinions on a myriad of subjects. Anything from politics, sports, religion, pop culture, questions of the day, rants, travel, health, music, sex, advice, etc. are all welcomed. It's a fantastic group with a lot of thought provoking insight.
Privacy
Merava recognizes the need for discretion within the lifestyle. We have many prominate members of this group that are none locally and nationally. So we go to great lengths to keep your membership private. Merava nevers publishes a guest list for our events. Photography is never allowed (unless it's a special occasion and even then we will supply the camera and photograph only those who wish to be). We never give out someone's email address. So rest assured that your privacy will be respected.
Will I Get Laid?
Merava is not a group focused on sex. We bring together a very select group of couples & single females that are in the lifestyle together. Much like if you met in a nightclub, the night is what YOU make of it. There is never a planned group sex session ever at Merava. What you do in the private behind closed doors is your own business.
Anniversaries... Birthdays
Many couples will celebrate special occassions with us. Frequently someone is celebrating a birthday or a couple is celebrating their anniversary. At one party we had three different couples celebrating their anniversary with their Merava family! A Merava party is a great suprise gift for that special person in your life!
The Innovator
Merava works diligently to be on the cutting edge of new ideas and presentations in the swinging lifestyle. We're constantly working hard to bring you a new lifestyle experience. Others groups in the region have directly stolen from Merava's presentation in many forms and have tried to pass them off as their own. Whether that theft be text, ideas or unique party themes. But rest assured that Merava's ideas can be lifted, but never duplicated.
Does The Buffet Include Vegeterian/Vegan Choices?
Yes, along with a selection of different meats, our buffet (remember, it does vary from from event) will include choices for vegeterians and vegans as well.
What Type of Music Do You Play?
Our music tries to be more contemporary but with many of the classics.. and many, many naughty songs as well. The playlist will generally consist of dance, hip-hop, new rock, classic rock, Top-40's and the 80's. So expect to hear from the Pussycat Dolls to Nine Inch Nails.. Prince to AC/DC... Marilyn Manson to Kayne West. Beyonce to the B-52's. Generally, it's a nice mixture of something for everyone.
Does Merava Plan Other Events Outside of the Parties?
Yes, we generally do at least two offsite parties during the summer. Plus, there is always a Merava group vacation trip for our members. This year we went to Amsterdam. Next year we will be going to Jamaica. And sometimes, Merava members will organize smaller events for the members outside of the main Merava parties.
We Are Only Interested In A Female
Some couples are only interested in pursuing other women at the Merava events. If this is what you're after, then this is possible as well. There is a lot of interaction between women at the Merava events and some couples will freely let the female give attention to a couple as well without her male mate being present.
